Website.......missing pictures !
Discussion
I'm sure one of the Pistonheads posters will crack this in a flash, but it's driving me nuts.
I've started out on a website, it's crap I know, but we've all got to start somewhere. I've got six months to learn, before the site will be going live. It's only up already, to give the search engines time to crawl over it, and hopefully get some sort of ranking.
My problem is this:
The paypal logo in the top right corner of my pages, doesn't display in some browsers (IE). I've not tried others yet.
Here are some screen grabs
Visible
Missing
I know the logo is supposed to come from paypals secure server, I just cannot get it to work, so I've added it to my root folder.
There is a similar problem, with different pics/tables on the pictures page.
URL is www.skidvd.co.uk
Ted, after seeing another poster asking for help with his website I hope it's ok to post my URL? If not, truly sorry, delete it.
After reading the other post, I looked into CSS
doesn't take long to get a headache does it?
Thanks
Phil
edit to add: any advice about what I should be doing with the site would be welcome. TY

I'm just another poster eh
Doesn't seem anything particulary wrong with the site as is (although you are using the localy held copy of the paypal logo - is that such a bad thing?)
Personally, I'd do the following things to the design:
* Plain white background - get rid of the fade (or at least invert it - sky is always on the top
). Maybe change the background of the seperate sections of the tables (i.e. make the menu reside over a different colour). * Align the table to the left rather than the middle
* I'd copy the Amazon style of advertising/selling something by moving the smaller image to the left and have some smaller details about it (i.e. price etc) and then the bumph below - what are you trying to sell the info or the book/video?
* Remove the "Bansko" section, simply copying info from another source isn't a good idea.
* How come there is such a difference in the size of information with the two guides?
* Tie the contact form into the site - it looks like that is something completely seperate to your actual site.
* Get rid of the chatroom completely, you will spend a fortune on bandwidth costs. A forum would be a better idea, but be warned that an empty forum looks bad.
* Hit Counters tell people how many people aren't visiting your site
Try www.statcounter.com as that can be completely hidden from the public and give much better info. Sorry to be critical, just trying to "help" from my experience of setting these sort of sites up.

Thanks docevi1. Sorry I didn't credit your post
too bloody lazy to open another window and find out who it was.
Good advice, thanks again. The site is bare bones at the moment, we've got photos/reports coming from friends soon, that will end up on there. This explains the difference in quality/quantity of info on the different pages. We are out there for most of January possibly all three resorts (definately 2), and intend getting as much footage/images/info as we can use, and then get some more. The site will be advertised on a big website in the new year, this should generate a load of hits for us.
Truth be known, I was going to leave myself a month or so to get a website made up!! bloody glad I didn't!.
Now if I can just get everything to display ?
Next step, as prompted by your good self, is get my noggin round CSS. There seems to be a logic it to it which will make it easier to fathom, just gotta spend some time I suppose.
Oh, I take it the logo displayed for you then?
Cheers
