CD player with Spotify - is there such a thing?
Discussion
The OH wants a device with speakers that plays CDs AND Spotify. Imagine a Bose Wave, but with the ability to log into Spotify and you're on the right track. I've hunted high and low but the nearest I can get is devices that play CDs and will sync to your phone via Bluetooth, with Spotify coming from the phone. She's adamant that she wants a device that does both without a third party device having to join in. Is there any such thing out there?
Richer sounds have a few options, although not all do Spotify:

Don't just imagine the Bose Wave, buy it.Bose Wave IV and the Soundtouch Pedestal to be more precise:

I have a soundbar with Spotify / Deezer apps built in, and also use my iPhone to use them.Hands down the iPhone app wins. So intuitive and simple to use.
I find the apps built into music hardware less intuitive to navigate and find songs / playlists. You also have to use a remote control and a smaller separate screen and have to stoop near the unit to use it.
Even though I have it built in, I revert to the iPhone app.

You're right... it does... for about three times what I was hoping it would cost! Anyway, it's for her birthday next year (just planning ahead) so maybe I can rope her brother and her dad in.Bose Wave IV and the Soundtouch Pedestal to be more precise:

I got mine for £400 in the Bose sale last Christmas. I was also impressed by how good the DAB radio was given they use the power lead as an aeriel.
Eta: even with the Bose you still need to use their app to select the music from Spotify, Amazon Music etc

Assuming your wife has a smartphone you could get a any number of CD players that also have Spotify Connect.
Spotify connect uses the Spotify app to control music playback but the actual music streams directly from the Spotify service to the device. So no need to connect the phone to the speakers, use Bluetooth etc.
I prefer Spotify connect to using the Sonos app due to the quality / intuitive nature of the Spotify app..
If you already have a CD system with an aux in you could also just add Spotify connect with something like this, or an Amazon echo dot (cheap as chips on eBay)
