Anyone recommend a new Android smart phone around the £100 mark..just for the odd bit of browsing and internet radio, good battery would be a bonus

Moto G series is my go to range of phones for budget androids.
The moto G8 is currently about £130, the Moto G8 power lite (with a big battery) is £99 on Amazon.
Haven’t looked at the specs in detail to see what the detailed differences are but the g8 power lite looks like a bargain.

Click on BBC went over a few cheaper phones in the programme at the weekend. No Moto phone in their group, but it's safe to say avoid the £70 Nokia 1.3 https://youtu.be/0HH9t2yH2mw

Sony XA1. It's not new but will probably be about £100 now and is decent enough for your requirements and a little bit more.

Having bought a Moto G5 I would always recommend them - partly because of the good spec etc for price but also because it is the first phone that I have had that has had a decent level of firmware support (both security updates and "upgrade" to the next version of Android). The HTC and Samsungs I have had previously were very poor in that respect.

I've got the Motorola Macro One. Think it was about £140 and does the job for me

I was looking for exactly the same about a month ago. I ended up stretching the budget to £150 and got a Samsung A21s. I'm very pleased with it and since it was only launched this summer the operating software should have a good few years in it.

That’s a really good shout. The A21 and even last years model (A20) is a good phone for the price and camera outclasses the frequently trouped out Moto as well.

i own the A20. It is pretty slow, button presses, making a call. the camera is pretty bad, and randomly decides quality based on unknown factors. i only bought it for wifi calling, but my poco f1, was so much better it felt like i had stepped back in time. The Samsung bloatware is annoying as well. Besides that not bad...

I recently spent a chunk of time researching phones around the £100 mark for a Christmas present and settled on the Honor 8S from Argos for £100.

It was between that or the Samsung A20 but as it's for a kid, I wanted one that was physically smaller. Even at this price point most of them are absolutely massive.

I used a Wilyfox previously, it did everything well apart from being a phone. The sound quality wasn't very good making phone conversations difficult.

I'm also in the process of looking for one for my father. The main feature I'm looking for is a small (approx 5" screen). He lost his wilyfox has it fell out of his top pocket at the tip, so the smaller phone fits in his pocket more securely. I've seen some suitable, but they run Android Go. I don't think that will be a limitation for his requirements. However there are some apps that would be useful. Does anyone know if GO can run all the same apps as standard android, dependant on hardware limitations

Wiley Fox went bust ages ago didn't they? have they been bought out?

Bought both my mum and sister a Swift X few years ago, it worked well for a few months then one of them died. Sister ended up buying a PIxel 2 (was current at the time) and my mum has ended up having my Pixel 2 XL since.

Am I understanding this correctly - not for use as a communication device, but as a consumption device?

I'm old..I don't use the phone much, just a bit of browsing/ WhatsApp when out, the odd phone call..prefer something that's reliable over feature packed

Had a £90 Blu brand Android for last 4. Years, screen has just got a unresponsive area on it
