Hmmm....this one has had me baffled for ages and I simply cannot figure it out so maybe someone out there can explain and provide a solution.

I bought an HP Photosmart 7550 printer for my friend to put on his MacOS X network using a JetDirect 175x printer server connected to a Netgear DG834G v2 wireless router.

In the past he wasn't using the wireless networking and when connected to the router with a hard wired ethernet connection, all was fine and the printer could be detected and used using an AppleTalk protocol.

Now we've switched over to wireless and I simply cannot detect the printer through AppleTalk and have no idea how to configure and add the printer even using IP printing as the Photosmart 7550 is not listed in the printer list!

How can I get AppleTalk to work again through wireless networking as i've played around with every setting on the router and print server without any luck and i've simply run out of ideas!!!!!

Thanks all!

Beany :)

Off the top of my head (and I'll check) I would guess that Appletalk won't work with wireless, or at least not the standards supported by the hub.

I could be wrong, but I don't think your router will support Appletalk ....

I suggest configuring the whole lot to use IP.

Bugger.....i thought it might be something along those lines......

So what's the best way to configure the printer with IP if there are no print drivers in the print driver list in OS X?

Ta!
