My Huawei P20 pro has come to the end of its life, screen crack a couple of months back, now the rear has gone.
Any tips on migrating data (WhatsApp, contacts, photos etc) over to new iPhone?
I do have an Apple ID with an old iPhone 6 kept as a spare and for banking apps, but contacts is out of date
and I fear mixing the 2 will end in tears.

(Would have stayed with a Huawei P40 Pro if it still had Google etc)

WhatsApp normally backs itself up so connecting into a new phone shouldn’t be an issue

For all the contacts etc. You can extract them from your google account and import them to the Apple one ... or just add the google account to the iPhone and it’ll pull them in itself.

Again I assume you’re using google photos ... just install that app and all the images will be present.

Last month I switched from a Samsung S10 to an iPhone 12 Pro, having never had an iPhone before. I used the Move to IOS app on the Samsung to get most stuff across, but it couldn’t do anything with my WhatsApp history.

Back up everything to Google and restore on iPhone. Unfortunately with WhatsApp you are stuffed, it's not possible. Whilst WhatsApp does back up you can't restore it to an iPhone something to do with the way they are stored.

Whatsapp backs up to Google Drive I think so switching between iOS and Android isn't easy when it comes to Whatsapp. Probably why more people should use Signal rather than Whatsapp as think to switch between the 2 is a lot easier.

OP Not fancy going for a Pixel device over iPhone?
