Google Nest Mini
Discussion
Not sure if this is the right category or if it should be in the Computers thread.
However I have to say that if my Google Nest Mini had not been supplied free of charge by my energy company I would have been demanding a refund from the supplier.
It is the most useless bit of kit known to mankind. All it has to do is control 2 Philips Hue lights which it spectacularly fails to do. At least twice a week it loses its connection to the wi-fi and has to be set up again.
Are they all this useless? I assume not.

I've got a few and while a bit flakey a few years ago, they work much better now. Having a decent WiFi mesh system seemed to help, as did successive updates to Hue and Google Home so I would check your apps are up to date.
They often don't listen to my OH when controlling lights, but I think it's good that I am not the only one in the household with MSD.

My Nest Mini lies hidden adhered like a limpet to the underside of one of my kitchen cupboards. Very rare to get a disconnection and if it does it will be up and running again in a few minutes. Never needs setting up again. I can't work out why you would need to do that.
I really would not be without it now. It's handy in the kitchen where you frequently have wet or sticky hands. I use it for timing food, calculations, reminders, alarms, Spotify/radio, news and asking all sorts of cooking related questions. Being powered by Google it's actually surprisingly good at answering random questions, but I haven't got an Alexa unit to compare it with.
