Chrome bookmarks have changed

Hi all

A few weeks ago I spent some time going through all my bookmarks ,deleting out of date unused ones, putting stuff in files and so on.

Today, they have all reverted back to a mess of the old and the new

Is there a way of restoring it all back to how it was yesterday?

This seems to have happened since the machine hung and had to be switched off.

Make sure you're signed into chrome and connected when you do the tidying up.

I did the tidy some weeks ago
All has been fine across all devices,signed in as getting e mails etc

Yesterday, they went back to what they were deleted ones have reappeared in the tool bar, and Ive gone from a nice list of files to a mess of files and individual and historical bookmarks.

So Im trying to find a way of going back to how things were on say Wednesday when all was good.
I thought google kept a file that was regularly updated?
