Maybe the wrong place for this but you never know...

I'm searching for a simple bedside alarm with one condition, a genuine ascending volume alarm.

It turns out that many just ascend in buzzer frequency or purely adjust manually high and low, its proving way harder to find that I would ever have imagined.

Not looking for one that lights up though as don't want to wake my wife with my 0520 start every day!

Any suggestions??

and it has ascending volume, works really well and very impressed with it.

Thanks - It would never get used for anything other than telling the time and an alarm - bit too much tech for that.

I’ve got a Pure something or other. I don’t know about the beep-beep-beep alarm (or even if it has one), but I have the alarm set to come on with Radio 4 at 6:59am on weekdays and it starts from zero volume and takes about 30 secs to gradually reach full volume. If it’s the kind of thing you’re looking for I’ll go and see what the model name is.

Don't phones do exactly this, an always on display between your hours of sleep will show the clock as well.

Thanks, Pure ones are all £100 plus I think, I was more in the £25 bracket for the clock.

Regarding the phone use, its what I'm trying to replace!

Tristan.
I know you didn't ask about this kind of thing, but would something like this work for you instead - as it hopefully wouldn't disturb your wife when it went off and it's small enough not to bother your sleep, but should wake you up.....? Right price, too...!

Nope. It won't tell you the time by looking at it.
I would go for the amazon show 5".
Even has that function that wakes you slowly with light too.

They make 2 dots, one has an LED time display.

Although I'm actually a Google Assistant user with many Google and Nest devices I also have a Show 5 as my bedside clock. Mine was only £40 on Prime day so I thought I'd get one to try. While its not converted me to Alexa I have been pleased with it as a fancy bedside clock. Alarms can be set either on screen or through the app which is perfect for my use.

Interesting option, sent me down a rabbit hole of looking for a new watch!

Could work out but like a set of numbers to glance at on the bedside table.....

Thanks,

Thanks,
No worries.
Just install something like this on your phone - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/nite-time-simple-nig...
and get the 'watch thingy' ...! (I have an Android phone, so use an app called 'night clock which is good - not sure if it's on the appstore, though).
The problem with most smartwatches that would also do the same job is that they're way too bulky to wear in bed - and you'd probably need to be charging them overnight, anyway.
You could also get something like this that goes under your pillow - https://www.argos.co.uk/product/4971410
