Hi, yesterday I wrote to a potential client and included my website address, using my iPad.

In his reply, the address that I had written to him was displayed as this https://url6.mailanyone.net/v1/?m=1l0KNj-000Ahb-4r...

including another line of random characters. If I clicked on the modified link, it still went to the right address. The modified display is the same on both my iPad and Outlook 365 on my laptop.

I wrote to my host asking if it was something that they used and they said not. I could not identify anything modified on inspecting my webpage. I reloaded my website and it seems to have gone, for the time being

Has anyone any ideas what this might be and what I need to do to stop it recurring?

Thanks

URL rewriting is an email security thing from his end. The idea is that if you let the link through then later realise it’s a malicious one you can’t do anything about it. So you rewrite it with a forwarder to the correct one and then if you realise later the link is malicious you can break the link later. Without having to reach into the recipients inbox.

Thank you for that, it now makes sense.

He was using his email address from a large business.
