Anyone had the wifi6 lite AP's yet on pre release? Or has anyone got them on pre order?

I'm just looking at getting my first AP's and while I have no WiFi 6 devices yet I can't help but think that it's a better investment at like £105 each opposed to say used ac-lr at 60-70

I have a 6-lite which has replaced an AC-Lite. I bought it retail from the UI European store just before Christmas, so I think it is now technically released.

The firmware isn't quite there yet IMHO - it doesn't support 160MHz channels, and the 2.4GHz performance is significantly worse than the AC Lite was.

It also by default doesn't come with a power injector, so you'd need to cost that in to the equation compared to a new AC-Lite.

I have a poe switch so the injector isn't a huge issue.

Wifi6 is very slow on the uptake, and not many devices support it.

Just get a decent AC unit for now.

We have a house full of apple and all our devices are wifi6 I imagine most people have a wifi6 device without realising. I’ve been waiting a year for a wifi6 router but don’t think the cost vs reward point is very good at the moment.

Yes i know Apple are up to speed, but tbh, i really can't see much benefit from it as it stands at the moment.

And as pointed out, Ubiquiti FW is poorly implemented, and as for the controller.. fk off!

I'm happy with the controller, and have had good and bad experiences with FW from too many companies to list, but right now it feels as if it has been released so that it wasn't launched after 6E was getting all the headlines.

It will presumably improve as the firmware matures, but right now it is frustrating having worse performance than the device it is presumably intended to replace.

In a home environment there is little improvement with WiFi 6 over 5/AC. 6 is more about density than outright speed. Also consider how you are going to mount the AP as they are quite directional so really best ceiling mounted.
