Help with security / updates needed

[anonymous-user]

Hi all

My neighbour is elderly and has got no idea about security / updates / scams / fraud emails etc etc etc

I know he has a laptop using windows 10 which was, in his words, set up for him where he bought it. Obviously we don't know what that means

He buys and sells shares, uses Ebay & Amazon and Gmail

Before lockdown I saw notifications, updates available and hundreds of tabs open, draft emails half written, replies to emails that had been sent and am sure lots more old person errors.

I know his laptop is getting old and wouldn't take much for me to persuade him to buy a new device, but which one would solve the above problems by just shutting down and on start up would update security etc?

He has poor eye sight so needs a large screen and very old fashioned so needs a keyboard to type and would benefit from a usb mouse rather than a touchpad

I know it's a big call but someone might be able to recommend something ultra simple to keep him safe. . . . . . at least from the start of the day!

Cheers everyone
