Home wifi, ADSL best solution please

I've lost touch with this subject, I did post a few weeks ago about using Mesh but I understand that still requires a modem to make it work?

Anyway my TP-Link Archer D9 is starting to give up the ghost. Its been excellent and has provided cover to most of my house (furthest points are a bit iffy) for the usual multiple devices (Alexa, tablets, computer, Amazon TV stick etc).

So I'm hoping for suggestions as to the best way forward please. It has to be ADSL as we can't get fibre or cable.

I want a stable connection especially over wifi (like most people) and to cover a large house.

Am I best with a single box solution (like the current Archer) or would a Mesh system work well with a cheap simple modem?

If single box, any suggestions? I have looked at the TP-Link AC2800 which is promising (don't know how it compares with my current device but `I suppose it is more powerful?).

If a Mesh system, again which one and which modem?

In the event we are lucky enough to get Fibre, could I use the same mesh system with a fibre router/modem or whatever they are called?

I'd probably go up to about £200 or so. Thanks in advance.
