Hello

I have a QNAP NAS (tsx53d) and wondered if there is a USB blu ray player i can plug into it to stream movies to my TV? I have an xbox for blu ray playing at the moment, but i find its noisy. The NAS is in my office, on a wired connection, so presumably i could insert a blu ray in the office, and watch it on the TV somehow in the living room?

Taking it a step further, can i copy the movie off the blu ray to the NAS? I am not entirely sure i'd want to do this as i have only 8TB to play with but just an idea.

Thanks
Mike

Yes you could rip them to your NAS, the files would be about 50Gb per disc.

I'f you own the physical disc then there isn't a problem downloading the film from the internet. I'm not sure if I'm using old technology but I can get a film from uTorrent in a couple of minutes, the download speed is nearly as fast as what my home network can transfer the film to my NAS drive.

I'm not too sure what the resolution of a blueray film is nowadays but to download a film in 1080p only takes up about 1.5GB or so, 50GB for a 4k film seems crazy.

Thanks

I do own the physical disks (4k nolan set) and ive not had much luck with torrents but i guess i could try it.

I bought this nas for its 4k streaming capabilties then realised i didnt have a way to get the films onto the drive lol.

Will a usb 4k player work?
