Been scratching my head all day with this. Phone is a Samsung A70, car head unit is Android Auto equipped.

Anyway car sees phone, phone doesn’t see car. Tried a reset on head unit, no joy. Tried to change usb preferences on phone - can’t. Uninstalled Android Auto from my phone intending to re install.

Went to reinstall, all it lets me do is update. Go looking for the app to open it, and it takes me back to update, so it seems the app is removed but somehow the phone still thinks it’s there, I then cleared appcache but still no change. I really am stumped here, have wasted hours trying to sort it. It seems it is not uncommon. Can anybody give me any advice. Android is v10

Have you powered off the phone and removed the battery.

It’s a dismantling job to do that, so alas no.

An old Sony I had used to do this. Apps that came with the phone (some call them bloatware) couldn't be removed, you could only enable/disable them, or press uninstall and it stays ready to be 'updated'.

You could try another phone in the car to narrow down source of problem?

Exactly what has happened in this instance. I only uninstalled following a tutorial on line. Just goes to show............

I don’t have access to another android device, but don and wife have iPhones and they work perfectly
