Anyone used an online company to unlock a mobile phone ?

I’m in dispute with the current provider who won’t issue an unlock code.

Any advice welcome.

what phone it is? In the past i have unlocked few phones using codes of ebay. Search there and see what you find. Usually, unlock codes are few quid at most on ebay so you wont lose much

I've used codes from ebay many times and have never had a problem.

They have to and they know it, BUT... if you're in contract and part of the contract is a credit agreement on the handset you have to have paid for the phone in full. If you've not (and if they're refusing to unlock I suspect you haven't) and you just stop payments, unlock it, and put another SIM in it the current provider/phone owner will report it stolen and IEMI block it which will make it useless in the UK and they'll mess up your credit rating so make sure you're in the right before doing anything rash.

All good info and very helpful, thanks.

The phone is all paid up and, without going into the full story, a revised contract via a 3rd party or ‘Vodafone partner’ was agreed in December. However their charges since have not reflected the new contract and despite many calls and emails they haven’t resolved matters leading to frustration on my part.

I attempted to remain with Vodafone by contacting them directly but they can’t/won’t get involved so I stopped monthly payments.

I realise they may come after me for the outstanding amount but they can F right off !

I’ve found a local shop who say they can unlock the phone for £25 and if they can’t I get my money back.

Meantime I have an older phone working fine with my new sim.

Thanks again.

That's incorrect.

No provider will blacklist a phone as stolen unless it's actually been reported stolen, which in this case it hasn't.
