I'm tired of leafing through notebooks to find things and thinking it's time to invest in a tablet with stylus. This would ideally be running some sort of software which can convert my notes into text, assign a few tags and be searchable by date and tag etc.

Anyone use similar/have recommendations for best tablet/software combos

Thanks in advance

The Samsung tablets with pens come with software like that from the factory. Worth having a look at them.

Thanks Fuzzy that is the sort of thing I was considering just wasn't sure if they were any good - are they accurate or do the notes end up gibberish. My previous Samsung phones have been a bit dubious quality yet I am sure Apple will want to charge me for everything separately.

Anyone else gone (relatively) paper free with their work notes?

Tab S7/Tab S7+ are nice and have a wacom digitiser/pen.

A halfway house could be something like this:
https://getrocketbook.co.uk/collections/notebooks/...

Reusable notebooks with an app that can scan the notes, organise them etc.

Have you considered a Microsoft Surface Pro 6, 7 or X with the Onenote app? Same selling model as Apple though, keyboard, stylus and dock are all separate, though you can connect most things via USB/miniDP/usbC depending on your model.

A friend of mine has one of these https://remarkable.com/ She originally had a Gen1 version and has upgraded.

She loves it and raves about it. She considered an iPad (has a Macbook and iPhone) but went for this for the more natural writing experience.

They are up to their second generation of device now, so seemingly well beyond the 'kickstarter' phase. It's a bit of a left-field option, but seems like it might fit what you are after.

We got our son (studying a Masters) one of those to try out - he tells us it is pretty good!

Me too, I use OneNote all the time over phone, tablet and laptop. It's great to be able to "print to" OneNote with technical specs and draw over them.

Some interesting and left field suggestions, thanks guys. The Remarkable looks pretty good but not sure I can justify spending that much solely on a digital tool for notes with no tablet functionality. At the moment the S7 which seems to come with stylus included is looking like it has the edge over the iPad Pro or similar. To bad no stores are open to test it as writing something with both would seal it one way or the other
