Who's got a racing game setup? (Chair, wheel, pedals etc?)
Discussion
Just toying with the idea of having a good setup in our backroom, but I know nothing about building one.
Have been looking at this site: https://fanatec.com/eu-en/
I must admit I didn't realise these things could be so expensive - I think I had a £100 wheel and pedals setup 15 years ago!
I'm guessing a good setup with a chair and a PS5 is not far off £2,500?

If you want to do it properly...

Full disclosure, that's my mate's business. I haven't used his new stuff, but based on the quality of the rest of it it'll be epic. He knows what he's talking about having raced in "The-Race" eSports at the start of lockdown, and the Daytona 24h in a DPi in real life, among other things

Seems it does come with the gaming PC though! some bloke said:
Surely VR is the way to go, rather than 3 monitors?
VR requires more powerful PC, I think tends to run at lower frame rates and resolution, it tiring and hot to wear and isn't great for peripheral vision in my experience, but some so prefer it (Brad Philpot being an example), I think three monitors feels more naturalsome bloke said:

Trade-offs either way. VR can be very computer intensive and some people get very nauseous. There's also the awkwardness of UI interaction with a VR headset.
3 monitors takes up a huge amount of space and requires some faffing to get field of view and angles etc set correctly.
I'm looking at building a sim rig soon so have been doing a lot of research in to this. I'm currently aiming for a Samsung G9 49" UWD rather than triples and look at getting the H2 VR headset later on down the line to try out. Curved ultra wide is a compromise between space/setup/computer requirements and immersion.
In a perfect world I'd be running the triple 65" monitor like Boosted Media (check him out on youtube).

That seems massively overpriced even if it comes with a gtx3090.WonkeyDonkey said:

Not really. I think that's actually quite competitive considering you get a 8020 frame, seat, direct drive hub and some very good looking hardware. If the PC is a decent I9 then that's actually not bad for a whole bundle. This is my current shopping list, G2 is set aside for buying later. And this list is just using the belt driven Fanatec and a much lower spec cockpit.
Total £7,342.00
Next Level Racing F-GT £369.00
Next Level Racing Free Standing Single Monitor Stand £170.00
Fanatec setup V2.5 £1,485.00
SAMSUNG Odyssey G9 £1,259.00
Chillblast Serenity Elite Gaming PC (i9 3090) £3,700.00
JBL Quantum 600 £130.00
Butt Kicker £229.00

Is there some sort of cheapo version, wheel, gearstick, pedals that you can fix to the dining table and run the programme through a lap top or PC?
Serious question, not being flippant (for a change).
I use a Logitech G29, PlayStation 4, Assetto Corsa or Project cars 2 and a Playseat Challenge clone.Serious question, not being flippant (for a change).
Biggest upgrade besides load cell pedals and triple monitors is finding a group of mates to race with, racing while chatting with a group of like minded mates is fantastic
I have an Obutto Ozone which I will be selling soon. It is a racing seat, and I think would be pretty good for that application. Unfortunately it is no good as a flying seat, hence the sale.
