I am generally fairly pissed off with my mesh Wi-Fi setup... is Wi-Fi 6 a worthy upgrade?

Heresy according to some posters. Wifi 6 won't buy you any extra range if that's why you've got the mesh setup.

I have WiFi 6 Netgear Nighthawk Router together with a mesh extender.

Works better than my previous Tri-band Velop mesh system on which various nodes would randomly drop off the network and then need to be reset and setup again to get them to work.

However, had to turn off some of the WiFi 6 options on the Nighthawk otherwise the WiFi was flakey on older gear. Once WiFi 6 disabled, normal WiFi has been rock solid and I still get a solid 1300 Mbs on my MacBook.

Have you got Wifi 6 devices ?

And are they all Wifi 6

Depending on your use case you might want WiGig instead !

Personally unless you have a real need and all devices support it .. I'd wait a while - there are some interesting chipset supporting newer versions in the pipeline

What's up with your mesh network?

I have 6 mesh discs and it was 'OK', but I recently managed to put two back to the router on ethernet... I know that sort of defeats the purpose, but it has transformed my network. I had one disc out in the garage and that was messing with the system as it was on the edge of the range - having that on ethernet has really strengthened things.

I would wait a while before investing in Wi-Fi 6

I've tested an intel PCI card that was Wi-Fi 6 - only ever gave 2mb/sec and nothing else ever.
