Anyone any good with Mambo?

I know the banner subject appears on a regular basis on the mambo forums, but unfortunately I've been unable to find an answer to my issues in any posts..

Quite simply, I cannot get banners to appear on my site, I've created two new banner clients, setup banners for each and ensured that all are published.

I've confirmed that the banner module is set to published as well.. I can see that since making changes there is an additional bar visible at the top of the page, but I can't seem to make my banners appear..

the site is www.587racing.com ..

Can anyone advise me on this one?

Cheers,

slinky

I've managed to bodge it to throw the banner into the middle of everything, but that isn't really what I was after... if anyone's got any ideas, I'd be greatful for the input!

cheers,

More than welcome to chap... I can't profess to being any good with mambo in general, but once i'd buggered around with it for a while, I got a feel for what to do!

mate, you're winning already. I started wrestling with mambo again today (2nd time) ... instal was a piece of piss, but IE's anal behaviour has stopped the editors from working (its security trouser are now right down, so all is well). I'm now in a position to start using mambo ... but where the hell do I start?? Has anyone found a basic concepts guide for this app?? It looks like it could be a good tool, but the frustration of not knowing how the hell it tackles things is beginning to try my ignorant patience. To put it into context, by trawling round the web it took me one day to learn the basics of CSS, download Spyce Python scripting for Apache and get a basic site with dynamic content up and running. Mambo is supposed to make that kind of result much easier to achieve, but without the basic documents it's actually more difficult. That is ed up.

Anyway, now that I've vented my frustration, can someone _please_ make me look a fool and point me to some decent docs?

Like the look of the site, but the ability to change the text size seems to be switched off.

Should be okay for most people, but for those needing bigger text they might have a problem.

Also I'm a bit of a moron when understanding some of the terms you are using:
dial-in
0.011 breakout
broke-out
slightly slow RT

Your probably preaching to the converted, most of the time, but a lot of the terms are alien to me and I'm sure quite a few others. If you linked all these terms into a file with explanations you may get higher search engine rankings for those terms and people seaching for them.

Just my 2p

Cheers for the comments Peoplespal, I might re-enable those elements..

As far as the technical terms, there is actually a drag racing glossary on the site with most, if not all, of those terms explained...

This has appeared since my last flirtation with Mambo, and it certainly helps. Still gaping holes, but at least there are some user guides.
