Does anyone know if you can get quality batteries for iPhone SE mk1 anywhere?

The last I bought was from iFixIt and it was clearly not Apple and not as good as Apple.

I’ve also bought ‘genuine’ batteries on eBay with poor success in the past (got very hot, didn’t work etc)

What have others used with near OEM quality success?

Happy to pay an Apple certified place to fix them but even they haven’t replied saying they use OEM parts which makes me wonder about quality.

Cheers for any help/advice!

Why do people always look for 3rd party options when replacing battery with apple is cheap.

£49 for an SE.

£69 for X onwards.

Sorry, the relatively local approved repairer hasn’t replied.

I’ll give them a call.

Not happy to post phone away.

Apple Store is a good 1hr 20min drive each way, just more difficult with lock down etc. Don’t want to have hours to do nothing in Leeds waiting for a repair.

My wife’s 3yr old SE says 95% condition but is going 100% to switch off in about 2 mins so clearly borked.
Mine isn’t much better.

Happy to DIY too but as it appears there are no ways to actually buy an OE battery?

ReplaceBase for iPhone spares.

OEM version here, plus they have other options too.

wefix.co.uk - they come to your house in a van and do it in that.

I just checked their website as I could do with a new battery at some point in my iPhone6 (currently at 78% after over 6 years).

On selecting the option to replace battery in iPhone, you go to the model select screen.

Clicking on iPhone6 is says, "sorry, we're not currently repairing that model".

Out of interest, I tried all the other models and got the same message, so it looks like they are not currently able to replace the battery in any model of iPhone. frown

Ah - sorry about that, I know we've used them for an iPhone battery and 2x Samsung batteries before

It might depend on the person local to your particular area - I can't select any Apple stuff on there - nothing Apple is fixable right now here. Samsung is selectable. Odd.

I rang my local Apple Approved repairer, and they said they use batteries from Apple.

I'm assuming since the Apple website sends me to them then they're probably legitimate.
https://www.istore.co.uk/istore-locations/istore-h...

£50 and 2hrs seems ok to me if it will genuinely go another 3yrs again.

I've had enough random batteries in the past (even apparently OEM ones) that have clearly not been anything like OEM once fitted, or things like adhesives failing a week later, that I'm not going to go with anything that isn't explicitly Apple OE.

Given they're such a faff to fit then you don't want to be opening/closing for fun.

I think its also worth considering the safety issue associated with using cheap & potentially nasty pattern parts.. There are several examples of exploding lithium batteries out there & I just wouldn't want to take the risk. One of my colleagues recently had her phone explode on a bed side table whilst it was charging over night.. She was very lucky not to have any injuries let alone a fire etc.

Yeah Apple fakes are rife.

In the past I’ve bought a ‘reconditioned’ new iPhone C on eBay and the charger was fake, and god knows what battery the phone might have had in it.
When the seller asked for proof I sent lots of photos of new OE vs theirs and was refunded. Pretty worrying really.

I had a 3GS ‘OEM’ battery replacement that didn’t charge but got very very hot.

£50 for a legitimate fix sounds ok. But I’m still slightly skeptical on parts being OE from iStore, unless they can only be an official Apple repairer by only using Apple’s parts?

Second this place, after breaking my work SE instead of having to pay work lot for a new replacement, i got another mate to order the screen and battery from these guys, swapped out the screen and battery in about 20 mins and was good as new.

That was over 3 years ago now and still going strong.
