Vigin mobile contract discounts

I was looking to get a new contract for my mobile and had a look at the virgin sim only deals. I'm already a customer with virgin broadband if it makes any difference or not but can someone make any sense of this. You choose a sim deal, in my case £20 for unlimited everything on a 24 month contract.

There are about 20 different discounts and it invites you to tick one of them, they range from about a £2 discount at the cheapest to the biggest discount of £19.48, all random amounts and in no sort of order. Obviously you choose the biggest discount, it would be daft no to wouldn't it.
It then takes you to the next page where indeed the discount does show up.
Now obviously you aren't going to get an unlimited everything deal for 52p a month for two years so what the catch? - you never get something for nothing. I can't find any info on it whatsoever, its says "Monthly discount" so it must mean more than one month but how many, do you get 2 months of discount and then its full price and why give you so many options to choose from, glitch in the system?
