Hi all, got a friend who is struggling to hear me and everyone else when we ring him, he has very poor hearing.

I know he has tried a couple but they are either too complicated for him to use or simply not loud enough, so. . . . . what is the landline phone for an old person ( he can hear more clearly when a phone is on handsfree as opposed to holding it to his ear?

Cheers

Surely a job for a conventional hearing aid?

I got some Geemark handsets, they have a boost button which works well. Some phones have a socket for a headset, which might help. Hearing aids and phones don't seem to work well together, unless there is a bluetooth connection.

Very true. I stopped using the landline as the voice is quite poor as opposed to using my android handset with an app like Neutralizer. Seems to function fine for me as I prefer to take my hearing aids out when on the phone. If on loudspeaker, I leave the aids in.

If your friend has hearing aids, can he not use the loudspeaker function on his handset instead?

Worth talking to the RNID - they gave good advice and allowed us to trial several products to find the right one

Like yourself, my friend finds it easier with my handsfree mobile but can't persuade him to get a mobile; he wants a landline

My Grandparents both ended up very hard of hearing. We tried various things, but a DECT handset with a speakerphone ended up their preferred option.

The boost functions on those Geemarc phones (and others) distort the audio a bit and don't work very well when the caller has a soft voice - old ladies in particular.
