I’ve just been hearing about a possible class action from Which:-

https://smartphoneclaim.co.uk/

Worth checking imo.

Another person who thinks it’s ok for huge, obscenely rich companies to operate illegally.

No, I'm as much of a tight arse as anybody else. But I don't think they've got much chance here as it's Apple and Samsung's suppliers who were allegedly overcharging.

That's who they're going after.

Other chip manufacturers exist. They could have bought Broadcom, nVidia or TWD. This is a wild goose chase likely given a fig leaf of credibility by a legacy FTC investigation which amounted to not much. Just enough to suck in the gullible.

Qualcom and Apple drop hands and came to a licensing agreement eventually.

Also surpised Which is still around. I guess it makes money reviewing stuff for people who haven't heard of the internet!

I had a trial a while back and it's quite a good site to be honest. The vast majority of reviews on the web are worthless.

Your comment doesn't make any sense then.

Would the supply of a chip used by a phone company not be agreed between that company and buyer (Qualcomm and Samsung/Apple) and be covered by their USA or Korean contract laws?

I know who the proposed action is against and I don't think they stand much chance of success. A personal opinion.
YMMV

The lawyer from Which was on the BBC 5 Live Wake Up To Money program this morning. She sounded confident but then they always do.

What is the possible basis of a claim from an end user that bought the phones? If they paid the price advertised, and got the product they thought they were getting then there is no possible grounds for com-pen-say-shun. Nobody made anyone buy a specific handset and almost certainly cheaper alternatives were available if they wanted to spend less.

Another nonsense legal action IMO, and not dissimilar to the class actions against VW, MB etc following Dieselgate.

I've bought lots of Apple devices for our business.

I must start looking at retirement properties.

You have to pay to read most Which reviews. I don’t know anyone who subscribes to it.

I kind of agree - and in any case, £30 in the price of an iPhone is neither here not there

On the other hand, we have iPhones, VWs and MBs in the household and they've all had me over at some point and I'd be very happy to expoit the chance to do the same back to them.

Savvy Netizens wont fall for the paid for reviews but will use them as a barometer then come to places like this. God bless all of you but the likes of you make a product like Which irrelevant to me. Cars i'll sink into the make forum here or anything else, white goods, services, anything i'll find someone on here who has taste tested it, played with it for time and can likely steer me at a products foibles.

Pistonheads could likely be replaced by AVForums/F365 or whichever other specialist interest area someone is drawn too but the wealth of knowledge behind its core agenda is far more useful real world than the glossy pages of Which.
