if i'm in a business should we save shared files to onedrive for business or sharepoint?

Depends what you want to use it for is the answer.

Both if part of the 365 offering are cloud based so no servers to worry about.

OneDrive is good for document sharing, but larger libraries etc SharePoint comes into its own.

Roughly:

OneDrive for personal things (My Documents/Desktop)

SharePoint for your Shared Documents.

It's a bit more than that - SharePoint is a whole world of stuff, but you can use that as a rough guide. On Prem still has its place (SharePoint can get messy and breaks with long file paths) but for smaller business who don't need LoB apps it's definately worth looking at.

Dropbox for me every time - one drive is too glitchy and VERY fussy when it comes to file name formats etc

DB just works

Agreed - avoid OneDrive/Sharepoint if you can. It’s junk. Had an absolute nightmare this week trying to get it to sync 100GB to a Mac.

thanks really feels like noone really knows - when i google it some say that its onedrive for personal only and sp for sharing but then others say if you just want folder structure then use onedrive for sharing.

prob with sp in my head is it comes with so much junk. i just want folder structures tbh in file explorer

Not sure there's a right answer as I think how your business works comes into it.

We use OneDrive.

We also have normal shared file serves because a lot of apps still just rely on drive letters and lots of file operations.

Don't forget Teams smile

Way I explain it to users is ODfB for your personal stuff, Teams for the stuff you're collaborating on with others, SharePoint for the formal stuff on the way to it being signed off. Doesn't matter really, as its all in SPO anyway biggrin

Being slightly pedantic but ODfB saves everything into share point for cloud.
