Hi, I need to set up a one off conference call with 5 people. At least 2 of the people aren’t particularly IT literate so I’d like to offer them a number they can dial into. Dial in for everyone would also work, no need for video. I have Skype for home but this doesn’t do conference dial in and I don’t really want to subscribe to something for a one off call. Any ideas ?

I think you can set up a Zoom meeting for free, max time 45 mins? Believe it has dial-in details provided as standard.

Whatsapp / iMessage allow group calls

MS Teams has an option for dial in number

Google Voice allows multiple callers IIRC

Thanks although I don’t really want to sign up for teams or anything that requires an app download.

Teams can be sorted all in a browser with no app use at all.

Skype now has a browser version too, you can just e-mail everyone a link they click on to join the meeting without needing them to install anything. Personally I think the video quality on Zoom is slightly better, but as above you only get 45 minutes free without a subscription on Zoom.

https://www.freeconferencecall.com/ will do all that is required for an audio conference, just need to set up a free account.

I’m pretty sure if you click the url from a phone (iPhone), first thing it does is prompt you to download the app.

Not sure about phones, but it's built in to Windows 10 on the latest update so maybe it's using that rather than via a browser? When I tried it a while back on a PC I got the option to download Skype or join from the web browser.
If everyone's on phones rather than computers when Whatsapp's probably a better option

I was going to suggest your mobile phone service provider, EE has a group call function but you need to have it enabled, then I checked their website and they discontinued it 31st Jan this year.
