How can this be done? What kind of HDMI splitter do I need? It's a Lenovo ThinkPad work laptop. Nothing fancy. There's no VGA output.

Currently have just one monitor, but would like to use two. Many thanks!

If it's got a USB-C port (my Thinkpad is over 3 years old and does) then something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Adapter-MOKiN-Converter-C...

Thanks! That's really helpful.

Yes, it seems to have a USB C port. Looks a bit like an Apple 'Lightning' power port?

Or can I just buy a USB-C Monitor. So one connected via the laptop's HDMI and the other connected via the USB-C port.

The display needs to 'extend' though...

I run two monitors "daisy-chained" using DisplayPort.

Check the version of the USB-C port in the laptop, they won’t all output video. Should be able to find that from the manufacturers website

typically USB C ports that support video (called USB C with display port alt mode) have a logo like this

apologies for the hideous link, it was the best image I cold find in a reasonable time.

A display port connector often but not always can drive multiple screens, either by having one screen with DP in and DP out, so you can connect it to the laptop and another screen to it, or by using a DP external hub

https://blog.startech.com/post/connecting-multiple... discusses the second approach.

Really needs the right setup to drive it though - would be useful to know the exact laptop model to be able to check your options.

Thanks - nope - mine just has a 'Lightning' symbol. frown So probably can't output video.

No, most definitely can - that's not actually a USB-C port, that sounds like a Thunderbolt port.

Have a read of https://www.startech.com/en-gb/faq/thunderbolt-3-p... and look at https://sgcdn.startech.com/005329/media/products/g...

I use one of these for a second monitor on my laptop. Needs USB3 to output full HD but works well (other monitor is HDMI).

Was only a tenner when I bought it though!

Which model number of Lenovo laptop is it? They've made many models over the years all with differing connection options.

I have one of these Dell Docks that plugs into the standard USB ports on my Surface Laptop and runs 2 monitors at work. I'd definitely recommend it.

I have exactly the same and it's about to get hooked up to a second monitor - great bit of kit
