Whats App - restoring deleted messages

Hi All
Please can I ask for some help with this. I deleted some Whats App messages on my old iphone a few months ago to create icloud space. My phone then broke so I bought a new one. Using same sim I transferred all my saved data, apps etc to new phone
Now I need to try and restore old deleted Whatsapp messages. Is this possible? I am still short on icloud space
How would I restore old deleted messages? is there a risk of loosing current messages saved on Whats app

It’s a while since I looked at how WhatsApp works but I think the messages only exist on your phone once they have been delivered. (And the sender / group). I think WhatsApp cache them for a few weeks to get them delivered (eg if your phone is off in that time) but they don’t live on the WhatsApp servers (or at least that’s how I remember it works)

So I don’t think there is a way to restore old deleted messages

If you don't have the backup then you are pretty much screwed. Even if you did I think you would lose what you have sent/received since then when you try to restore them as you can't merge backups to what you currently have stored.

Pay the extra couple of quid a month for more storage.
