Can anyone recommend a USB hard drive for Samsung TV recordings / timeshift etc ?

Must be powered from the USB, not powered externally.

Been using a Bipra USB hard drive which has just failed, losing all recordings and failing timeshift etc

Don't need much storage space ...500MB or less is fine

Amazon has so many to choose from, I don't know where to start. Which are the reliable brands ?

I've had a couple of external and internal HDDs fail - different makes so no obvious link. I would go with an external SSD if you don't mind spending a little more - something from Crucial or Samsung will set you back about £100 for 1TB. I haven't had an SSD fail on me yet......

Thanks folks. USB stick definitely doesn't work. I tried it originally but then when I read all the instructions it very specifically says USB sticks are a no.

Not sure I want to really invest so much to get an SSD. It's really only used for pausing TV for a few minutes and / or recording the odd thing (we mainly use catch up TV but do record once in a while). I think when this one died we only had about 10 things on it going back to Xmas time.

Sounds like its pot luck with Amazon....going to take a punt on this one :
