I've seen OPPO phones advertised recently and they seem to around a lot - they also seem to look decent.

Here's the question: Who are they? Where did they come from and who has one?

I have a Huawei P30 Pro and next year I'll be looking for a non Huawei alternative that isn't the mountain of money that is Samsung or an iPhone and I'm wondering if thisll fit the bill?

Cheers smile

A large Chinese company who built their business on consumer and home electronics.
They're around quite a while, and their stuff is pretty good. They're usually in the top 5 when it comes to smartphone sales globally, so up there with Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi etc

Opinions are divided on ColorOS, which is their build of android. I've not tried recent versions of ColorOS so can't comment.

They've another brand called RealMe who put out some great looking phones with good specs at decent prices. RealMe have their own skin on android too, but I've never used it. Have been tempted to go try one in-store though to see what's what.

Massive in Thailand

I had an Oppo phone for a little while a couple of years ago where the camera popped out of the top ... very gadgety and gimmicky but worked well.

If I wasn’t in an Apple household I may have hung onto it rather than punt it on when I got back to the U.K.

I have an Oppo A5 2020:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/OPPO-Snapdragon-5000mAh-C...

It's a great smartphone, plenty of onboard storage for my needs, dual sim, NFC, fingerprint sensor etc.
It's not going to win any awards against a 600-1000 pound iphone / Samsung but it was £100 and a worthy successor to my old Samsung J5 2016.

The one minor annoyance is the ColorOS app drawer is vertically scrolling only whereas I'm used to horizontal pagination with my previous phones. Otherwise it's android 10, download your apps through the play store and use as normal.
