Can anyone recommend any easy to use but effective video editing software for PC?

I currently use NCH Videopad, but I don't find it very stable, and sometimes utterly counterintuitive.

I'm very far from a pro and all I want to be able to do is stitch video together, add an intro and outro and a rights free music track!

Many thanks

James

I've been using a free one called Shot Cut.

However, while it seems easy to me, I don't know how others would get on with it.

I use Da Vinci Resolve. It is free (but a bit of a resource hog, I had to upgrade from 4 to 20Gb of RAM) and it is crammed full of features, has several good intro tutorials and there is loads of advanced demos on YouTube.

I was able to get up and running editing my YouTube streams, adding music, subscribe buttons etc. all the basics, in a few hours.

I run my YT channel with the free Davinci Resolve. Been fab for years!

I probably use 0.02% of its capabilities but meh!

Happily 99%'s my PC though, you can set the RAM ceiling and if I then use the PC whilst its rendering the CPU gives it a bit less so it's hoggy, but won't cripple whilst you render untill your using a potato...

I really like Cyberlink Powerdirector. Pretty easy to use but I've probably not used a fraction of it's features. Thier latest version is monthly subscription like Office 365, but you can still buy older versions.

Another vote here for Davinci Resolve, the free version is pretty full featured now, the amount of high grossing recent films which now use the full edit workflow (rather than just the colour grading) is quite surprising it's become almost an industry standard over the past couple of years.

For anyone having performance issues it should be the GPU which is doing the heavy lifting so if you have a Nvidia card make sure that's it's offloading to the CUDA cores rather than using the CPU as it's literally a ten fold plus performance gain.

I was under the impression that only the paid-for version of DaVinci Resolve included the option for using the GPU for rendering, with the free version restricted to using the CPU?
