Ubiquiti POE switch preferred as Ubiquiti AP wanted and also these switches claim to be nice and quiet for a home office requirement.

Looking at the total POE budget for Ubiquiti switches in the low end, the total power budget seems rather low.

for example USW-16-PoE (max requirement is 6 ethernet ports plus below POE ports) seems to have a total Budget of 42W which would not be enough for:
1X AP @ Max 12W (Unifi 6 Lite)
3X POE Cameras at Max 12W each (Reolink RLC-810A)

Am I missing something or would the USW-24-PoE be required?

I have one of those cameras and my switch is reporting around 3W draw. Maybe a little more at night with IR on.

Maximums are just that, maximums (and IME they're very generous with most POE kit) - electricians think in terms of diversity, not everything will be drawing the most it can all at the same time.

42W budget should be absolutely fine for that stuff.

You can also e-mail Ubiquiti support through their website and tell them what you're thinking of doing. They're *very* responsive and will get back to you quickly. I've thrown questions at them a few times (about PoE) and had responses in a couple of hours.

FWIW, my 6 Lite idles at 3.9W, and uses 4.4W with a streaming video session over it. I think you'd have to work both radios very hard to get to 12 W.

Thanks for the helpful replies.

I am still suspicious of whether the reolink specs are any good (i have some earlier versions my self but on their own PVR) so no real way of verifying what load they could do. Reolinks specs seen a bit vague compared to Ubiquiti's camera specs for example - but it's not really like for like as Ubiquiti don't appear to do a stand alone camera.

Problem is that further down the line some IP phones might be added into the mix and therefore the POE budget could be blown easily. (should have said this earlier - however they would use the same ports in my earlier estimation so total number of ports required would not increase so a 24port switch would still be overkill from a port number perspective but not from a POE's!

Is this a better fit? https://www.broadbandbuyer.com/products/25470-ubiq... Oddly there's a similar unit with three years free cloud controller hosting which seems cheaper.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much, worst case move the heaviest thing to a separate injector if you needed to.

I’m really impressed with the camera - just hoping that soon there’s a firmware that lets you combine the AI (person/vehicle) detection and a motion zone.

I have the usw-16-Poe driving 3 APs, 2 8 port switches, a raspberry pi and a u-lte pro and it seems to cope ok.

Oh and a g3 flex camera.

Seems like there are several different versions of the UniFi 16 port POE switches. Mine is a 16-150, and is quite happily humming away at 82W right now. UniFi APs running at 4W, cameras (‘a mixture of G4 and G3 devices) are about 6W in daylight, 10W at night.
