Chromecast audio and timer?
Discussion
OK, throwing this one out to the PH wisdom....
I have a home audio system based on 5 chromecast audios. One of them is in the bedroom and it's plugged into an old denon all-in-one music centre which plays to some external speakers. The CCAudio is plugged into an aux in socket. Overnight we set the sleep timer on the denon to turn it off after a period of time and set the timer on it to turn on again at wakey-wakey time. All well and good but the denon device has packed up leaving us high and dry.
One easy solution is a cheap Class D amplifier to sit between the CCAudio and the speakers but this wouldn't have the timer system. Logic says that it should be possible to set some form of timer on the phone (Android) but it doesn't seem that it's possible to run timers on casting from phones. We usually use BBC Sounds but sometimes a music app of some kind.
What are my options, other than buying another music centre with a built in timer?
Thanks!

How about a smart plug to plug the amp in to.
You could even use a Google assistant routine in the home app to turn it on and start playing.
You'd need to check the behaviour of your chosen amp when it gets powered off, some will come back in standby rather than on. I've got an amp and CCA in the loft above the bathroom powering some ceiling speakers, works very well.

I'd just use a Echo or Google Home device in there- has speakers and timer. Unless you need enormous speakers.
If you're already using Chromecast then presumably the Google equivalent of Alexa will suit better.
We have a little Echo dot, which plays radio etc very well, and has timers built in.

I've done the same. We have a Nest Audio (the newer one) in our bedroom. You can pair them up in stereo if you want. Ours is used as our alarm clock and it controls the Chromecast in the TV next to it and the bedside lights. If you're already using Chromecast then presumably the Google equivalent of Alexa will suit better.
