This will be fun......Notes to Outlook
Discussion
.....tonight my work email gets switched from Lotus Notes to Outlook. I’ve found Notes to be utter rubbish having used Outlook many many years ago. I know I’ll have lost everything when I go in in the morning....... but in th unlikely event our corporate It dept have not messed everything up.... any really slick Outlook features I should be aware of?

Wow does Lotus Notes still exist?
Apparently a stable release 12 months ago.vaud said:
No but threaded Teams conversations are replacing the “hi Dave have you got xyz file” emails...
So you still need Outlook for the rest of the emails you may send/receive. The threaded conversation/chat tool just replaces the old chat & video tool we used to use (Skype for Business).Teams just seems like overkill as a replacement for that...considering it doesn't do away with the need for other individual apps/tools...and of course users see all the fancy 'app' plug-ind they can install (but they're not allowed) and then start asking for them - instead of using the company-wide approved solution already installed/provided.
We've had Teams for almost 18 months, and I still find most of my team don't like it - hate would be too strong a word, but sometimes they feel like throwing their laptop out the window:
- complaining of losing hours of work on files when their client app crashes (Word/Excel/Powerpoint) and the version on the Teams folder has not been updated despite having autosave on (it's to do with synching issues and local vs cloud copies)
- complaining that when there are multiple people working on a file, that the changes saved an hour ago are overwritten by someone else's changes from 10 minutes ago (it's to do with synching issues and local vs cloud copies...again)
- 'conversations' started 10-20 minutes ago, with no pop-up notifications on the desktop, so you don't know someone's asking you something until they call you instead - or you go into the chat area for something else
- the built in document editor/browser is useless (i.e. worse than using the built-in Sharepoint browser, or the iOS version) - and you can't set the default to open in app
- people keep creating lots of individual folders/sites instead of using one of the 3 existing cloud options we have (shared drives, onedrive & sharepoint) - and then not realising they're not actually on their machine (yes, it's a learning/training/behaviour issue - but they don't want to have to learn yet another way of working)
And god help anyone who's huge OneNote project file gets corrupted/lost along with 3 year's worth of project management material.
