Hello,

Ording a gaming PC for somebody else - have the spec sorted (will include a RTX 3070 graphics card) but it's been a while since I bought a complete ready built PC so unsure who is good to purchase from.

It's not for me so rather than build then support would rather they bought pre-assembled and warranted.

I'm guessing there will be a waiting time for graphics cards but that's fine.

Thanks in advance.

Target components do custom builds but are trade only - however Serversplus are the same people and deal with the general public and would be able to do it through them

Currently looking at this:

https://www.scan.co.uk/products/scan-gamer-rtx-int...

Have bought components from them in the past and always been good for warranty issues.

Scan.

3XS is their range of custom built PCs.

https://www.scan.co.uk/3xs

I've used them for 10+ years for both component only, and builds.

If you want to get someone to assemble a custom-build, then you've got lots of choices, e.g.:
If you just want want a pre-built, then be careful of some of the big name brands like Dell/Alienware or Lenovo/Legion, as they tend to skimp on some parts. They'll provide the spec they claim, but it will be the bottom of the range, bare minimum (or OEM spec) of that component. Same goes for some of the above system integrators when sold through CurrysPCWorld, Costco, Littlewoods, Argos, etc.

I don't know what your expectations are, but that machine with a 3070 won't get you high-end 4k gaming - despite what the website says - but will do fine for high-end 1440p.

Pity there's no spec on the SSD (is it a 1000mbps or a 5000mbps one), or the PSU (just 550W, not bronze, gold - and Nvidia recommends a 650w PSU for a RTX3070), or the motherboard (could be a £70 MB or a £120 one).

But for that price, I wouldn't expect premium parts anyway...but that's not just Scan, it's a combination of working to a tight margin and the increased component prices due to the global supply issues.

Scan did well by me, a friend got one recently from them - is happy but it did take a while to arrive with some comms being a bit tardy.

Thanks - good advice - buying for relative that's getting into PC gaming from consoles. I'm not sure he is ready for PC gaming (and all the faffing that's needed - I say that as a sim racer!) so speccing to budget incase it's a damb squib.

Won't have a monitor so suggesting a 1440 res iiyamma.

Thanks avoiding the typical shop-bought stuff and going for the names above - thanks for this.
