Moto G terrible over wifi

I have really liked my last Lenovo MotoG Power - very good specification for what is a cheap phone. One thing though - it has terrible wifi connection even if beside the router that is quite fast. To download an image I always have to switch off wifi and go to 4g. Any ideas why?

Any chance it's only connecting over 2.4GHz for some reason?

It's apparently possible to be too close for WiFi to work optimally - maybe try backing off to about 2 metres?

Is it just at home or elsewhere? Have you tried forgetting the connection and sticking the details in again? Generally when I start getting issues on Android I back it up and factory reset - it's not the ballache it used to be, just properly backup what's important to you. It's one of the first things, Google especially, get you to attempt when there's issues (I tend to do it roughly yearly)

G6 and G7 power in this household and an employee has a G9 play that all work as they should.

My mother has a G Power, and their router is in a terrible position. The G Power has been very good on it.
