It's Chromebook time again.
Discussion
I have a code which is worth £100 off any Chromebook costing over £300 from Ao.
Is this worth bothering with.
It will only be for browsing, YouTube, Netflix etc.
I have a laptop for laptop duties but getting a decent Android tablet is pretty much impossible nowadays without spending a fortune so my thinking is get a Chromebook instead.

Chromebooks are great if all you want is a web browser.
They run Android apps as well but you'll probably have varying levels of success with how well they run.
As long as you know what you're getting into... I sold my Chromebook Pixel a week ago and had a couple of people messaging me asking if it was any good for video editing

That particular model uses a Snapdragon 7C processor.
I've not used one personally, but the consensus seems to be that performance is adequate for light duties, but not exactly brilliant. You definitely won't be pushing it and multi-tasking or leaving multiple tabs open in the browser from what I've read and viewed online.
I'd imagine you'd get a better android tablet for 300 notes (or even a used iPad), seeing as you already have a laptop.
My 2015 C100 Flip reached AUE last summer (ChromeOS), and I picked up a Galaxy Tab A (android) on a special offer to try it as a replacement. It's Ok, but I'll definitely be moving to something like the recently launched CM3000 (ChromeOS) when prices drop a little.

I bought a Asus C101p flip Chromebook a few years back, because I did not want to take a then brand new iPad pro on holiday (overland in asia) to use for exactly what you describe, bit of web browsing, watching videos in air ports etc. ITs ok but IMHO a 2020 ipad for £329 would be a much better device for light browsing etc and virtually the same price.
I've used loads of them in the past, generally find you can do most of your day to day stuff on them. I'm typing from a LG Chromebase right now although its now running ElementaryOS Linux as it ran out of ChromeOS support.
They are good for older parents who just want to browse.
If you don't need one, even with £100 off, id say dont bother.

I love mine, probably 5 years old now.
Still as responsive as new.
Never lightning fast but they aren't supposed to be.
For web stuff, videos etc.. fantastic.
I could never take to a tablet, always wanted a real keyboard.
There are a few hybrid laptop/tablet chromebooks about if you want to go this way.
