I have a sensor with 5 wires to connect (see diagram).

I get that red/black are for the power feed, but it's unclear how the blue/yellow/white wires should be connected, i.e. which of these three connect across the lights, and what does the third do?

Thanks in anticipation....

Who knows? Try putting the lights across any two of blue, yellow & white until it works. Secure & isolate the unused one in case it's live.

If you're only looking to power a bulb, the yellow wire should be redundant.

I wouldn't be guessing, though - I'd be checking the above with a voltmeter.

Thanks to those that replied.

For the record, I just received the following message from the Chinese vendor:-
"Connect red and black to power, white and blue to light fixtures, yellow wire does not need to be connected, it does not light up during the day, it lights up at night when people come, and it goes off automatically when people walk away".

It looks like the yellow wire is an override for the PIR sensor (ie the light will run regardless of the PIR state if the yellow wire has input voltage - probably for use on a switch). If this is correct, the yellow wire can be ignored. Double-check this with a meter first though as mentioned above!

I would definitely avoid this sensor myself to be honest, especially as the vendor themselves seem unable to offer a coherent explanation as to what the 5th wire is for. I've seen a lot of dodgy wiring/soldering in some of these Chinese imports!
