I have just updated my nvidia graphics cards as I was asked to update when playing Battlefield2. So I did.

But know every time I try and play any games, Far cry, Battlefield2 and Counter Strike I get a warning come up.

Failed to set video mode-resetting to defult. but it does not and then the warning comes up again

What the feck is going on. I have never had this before. Any idea's?

First I'd go into all the setups of the games and get it to re-detect the graphics card. Failing that I think I'd just roll back the driver and re-install the a freshly downloaded lot.

Same drivers different problem. Games played ok but films burnt out as if brightness turned up too high (which ever media player used) rollback didn't help had to remove and reinstall old drivers.

Nvidia drivers should always be uninstalled before installing the latest release.....IIRC nvidia used to state it in the readme/release docs.

I read somewhere the new drivers have a bug in them for video playback. You can still use them but after install you need to go into the control panel and adjust the gamma for playback. They get good reviews for game stability and performance otherwise.

There is a set included with BF2 I beleive on the CD you could try them. (they were included with the demo too)

Long shot but do you know what chipset your motherboard uses?

I have a GeForce 6600 and it won't work on my PC... after extensive internet research it appears that my chipset (VIA something or other) is notoriously flaky with GeForce 6x00 cards. The answer is to replace the motherboard!! post on which possibly to follow!

May be worth having a look on t'Internet to see if the motherboard/graphics card combo crops up.
