Depending what the file size limit is you will struggle to get the MP4 file small enough to go by email

Better to use a file sharing site like https://wetransfer.com/

You upload the file to their website and a link gets sent to your work email to download it

https://handbrake.fr/

Allows you to get files way smaller than you thought possible.

A file, in email. Argh, why must people do this.

Put it on OneDrive/Dropbox or similar, share an link, with a password if you need to secure it.

They do it because generally it's easy....no matter how "bad" it is technically smile

OP - the OneDrive/Dropbox suggestion is the answer. Your company may have restrictions on what can be used. Contact your support guys/look on your intranet site to see what the preferred mechanism is.

(I very much doubt you'll get the size of the MP4 down to one that your company will allow through. Certainly not without compromising quality badly).

This. Strip the audio out, then transcode to the reduced data rate (quality) you need.
If it’s just speech you can probably reduce the size quite significantly and retain the message.

Convert it to mp3 and the size will reduce by a lot.

Then contact your Work IT - if they're organised enough to block stuff (and I can see why they might want to) there's a certain obligation to provide you with a way to transfer a file.

We don't block (the joys of internal politics) external file transfer sites, but have a org specific internal solution we encourage people to use.

Use WinZip/winrar/7zip/compression program of your choice to split it up into several files that are below your email sending limit.

Ask your IT guys.

If there's a genuine business reason for you to have the file on the corporate IT, they should be able to help you.

First make it an audio file and size wont be an issue. VLC will do this free and easily.
Second, secure links in the cloud are now the easiest way to transfer files (Onedrive, dropbox, google drive etc). Files are just too big now to reliably send them via attachments anymore.

Just guessing here but if you are intentionally recording audio from say a meeting or dictating notes, stop just recording video. Use the sound recorder app on your phone or something like Evernote.
Doing things correctly to start with will save alot of asking the internet for solutions when you have to try and force a bodge. And you never know, suggesting these better ways of working might get you a bonus at work.
