KVM server setup Raid question
Discussion
Hi,
I know someone here will know. I have a brand new (to me) R610 server. It's intended purpose is as a VM server.
It has 6 x 1TB disks.
What is the best way to setup Raid?
Can you do 2 logical drives of 3 disks each and raid between them? Because in the Riad controller it looks like you can only do RAID1 across two physical disks? So you would have to have 3 individual logical drives? Or is there not much difference if it's going to be a VM between having 1x3TB logical (raided) or 3x1TB logical (also Riaded)?
TIA

Which RAID controller is installed? If it isn't a battery backed cache equipped controller, you're probably best off with software RAID of some sort.

I'd consider raid 10 for the job if that's enough capacity with the discs you have.
