TP-Link Omada kit
Discussion
Anyone familiar with this kit?
A mate has just moved into a house with it, and am struggling getting him connected to the wifi network.
We have the SSID and password. Clients (our phones) accept these but fail to get an IP address. (If I enter a bad password the device comes back and says "incorrect password"...
Hardware wise...there's an "OC-200 Cloud Controller", a couple of TP Link switches and a couple of EAPs (EAP245).
The two switches are interlinked with Cat5. The OC200 to one of the switches.
There's an EAP connected to each switch.
Am also pretty sure his Virgin Media box is connected to one of the switches.
I've been initially thinking that maybe the controller software is missing, but should the OC200 be acting as the controller? And if so, should it also be performing DHCP duties?

He needs something acting as the router and DHCP server. Probably in this scenario the VM box. The OC200 controller is not a router/DHCP server.
However, I'm surprised that this setup does not have a TP-Link R605 acting as the router and DHCP server - as (in domestic Omada systems) it usually is.
Can you find the R605 router anywhere?
(and yes, my infrastructure is based on Omada)

Didn't see any additional boxes in the house...found some product info and realised the OC200 doesn't act as a DHCP controller. Think you may be right that it's the Virgin box acting as the router/DHCP server.
Have pinged him to try connecting with a static IP address initially in the default Virgin Media range. Will see if that yields anything.
Otherwise may be another visit over...

I stoped using my r605 router as it doesn’t provide a stateful fw for setting up IoT vlans. However, I'm surprised that this setup does not have a TP-Link R605 acting as the router and DHCP server - as (in domestic Omada systems) it usually is.

I’m using a home brew pfsense router now successfully with Omada switches an ap’s
At a guess the virgin media router is in modem mode and not handing out dhcp correctly
If it isn’t then how do wired connections perform to the VM router and Omada switches

Not at the property now (spent most of my time there humping boxes around and fitting stuff to walls). If it isn’t then how do wired connections perform to the VM router and Omada switches
I suspect I'll be needing to go over with laptop and cables next

(If it was in modem only mode, what would function as the router and wouldn't it not act as a DHCP server too?).

If it is modem only mode then it doesn't sound like there is a dhcp server in the network. That said, not getting an IP address does make it feel like there's no DHCP server at least.
Can't really say without having a better look.
Thanks for input. Can always rely on PH for faster pointers than my Google skills throw up these days

hmm I think I have that all setup using the OC-200 to manage the vlans for IoT
Unless it’s changed in the last month the it’s not a stateful fw, meaning if you block traffic from the IoT vlan to your trusted lan but allow traffic from the trusted lan to the IoT vlan the devices on the IoT vlan can’t respond. It makes setting up smart speakers and tv’s amps etc tricky. Stateful fw’ s recognise you have initiated flow from a permitted nw segment and then allow the target devices to respond.

Another thought, I recall having some connectivity issues with mine when the modem/router to switch, switch to switch and switch to ap ports weren’t setup as trunk ports, depending on what vlans (if any) are setup it could be a miss match there preventing traffic reaching the VMbox ?I suspect I'll be needing to go over with laptop and cables next
