Tempted to take the plunge given the largely positive experiences from people using these for PC gaming. Currently using a Dell S2721DGFA, however the OLED might make better use of my RTX3080.

Anyone using one? Be great to hear thoughts and experiences.

I have the LG 48CX TV for dedicated use as a PC monitor. I thought that it would be too large to be useful but after 6 months it has been great.

The screen is about 800mm from my eyes.
I shrink window folders to a size to how I like and details within pdfs, drawings are clear and easy to see. Web browsing, YouTube etc is really great.

Gaming is beautiful but you'll need a good card to run it, which you do, I have an AMD 6900 which does an excellent job with no issues.

No downsides, works really well.

I started my return to pc gaming using a 60 hz 1080p 40inch lcd tv. Thought it was grand and definitely was fine for Ps4.

Then moved to Ultrawide 3440 x 1440p 120hz ips gaming screen with native gsynch. Really enjoyed that.

Tried a 1080p 240hz 1ms TN gaming panel and it was super good for fast first person shooters but lost a lot of the indulgence of the ultra wide or the sheer size of the 40" tv.

I now have a 3090 and a PS5 and keep looking at 4k as an option. The TV you have suggested sounds spot on. Let me know how you go as I have thought of scrapping both my 240hz 1080p and 120hz 3440 x 1440 and making the same step you are going to. Good luck and I'd appreciate hearing.

Cheers

Not even burn-in when using static images for hours on end, such as spreadsheet work etc.?

Will do, My circumstances are I have the Dell monitor I mentioned and I have no complaints about it - I can stick any game on max settings and play in 2k no sweat. However I have my gaming PC in the office upstairs and my PS5 and soon to be Xbox X downstairs due to the 4k tv being there. This means using either of these two is dependent on getting time alone in the lounge which isn't easy.
A 48cx would prompt me to move the consoles upstairs and have a room to use for any gaming at any time.
Thats the man maths / logic I am telling myself.

I am running a 3080 not a 3090 but it should still be enough ooomph for this screen. Plus I am sure you could set it to play at 2k anyway if something was proving laggy.

Im not a massive techy and I am only 9 months into PC gaming for the first time so coming from consoles alot of the settings type stuff can still go over my head.

Hi, no burn in. The LG has some sort of screen shuffle stuff it does periodically, well, it's done it once. I saw a message to inform me that it was going to happen and the TV did its refresh and done.

I only have one icon on screen, the recycle bin, and the task bar is hidden. I think when you work you tend to shuffle docs around anyway, shrink, move etc.

It's a really good monitor/TV.

I might be asking you for any tips on set up and settings mate. To avoid the stand eating into my desk space at the back and putting the screen further forward I am ordering this stand to place behind the desk to give it a bit more distance and avoid drilling the wall

Sounds good. 3080 is a beast of a card. Nothing shy there. Awaiting any updates as and when :-)

Been using my 3090 and PS5 on an LG C9 65” since last year.

Absolutely stunning image quality as well as HDMI 2.1 for when the PS5 finally supports it, and GSync compatible for the 3090.

There’s not much else to say other than get one. biggrin

Yes, forgot to add you need an appropriate HDMI 2.1 cable for 120 Hz.

For calibration I use a avforums, there are others.

To use the TV as a PC there is a setting for the HDMI input, PC, which then recognises Nvidia and enables G Sync, AMD cards Free Sync, when games are loaded the TV recognises this goes into game performance mode, (or something similar).

It's a great piece of kit!

Took the plunge, will be setting it up over the weekend and will hold off selling my 2k monitor till I have given this a go first.

Whilst not a necessary purchase by any means, I expect it will be great to have this with the series X, PS5 and 3080 connected up.

Any other tips or hints on set up, settings etc??

Did you take advantage of the instant £200 saving too wink

Make sure you have decent HDMI 2.0/2.1 cables if you want 4k/60hz or 4k/120hz - but you have 4 ports to choose from, unless you are using one of them for HDMI ARC audio output to a soundbar/soundbase.

You'll also find the stand (and cosmetic cover) to be very sturdy!

I turned off most of the auto/AI options as I wanted to set everything up myself, and some of the AI options were giving terribly artificial-looking images.

I also found the PC image was slightly too large for the screen with the default setting, so had to change the auto-sizing/scaling to 'just scan' to make it fit perfectly - and you'll want to enable HDR in the display setting on your PC to get the best out of watching any media through it.

It might just be my wifi, but I found the built in apps suffered a bit of buffering if I used them via wifi - which was solved by going to a wired connection.

Well my OLED experience didnt last long. I only tried it with my PS5 and XBOX Series X and found it a frustrating experience so it has been returned.

Why? ABL. I was surprised at home the screen kept going dim on brighter parts of games and sometimes lighting back up but on occasion staying dim. Through a bit of digging this cannot be turned off unless you buy a service remote but that could possibly void the warranty.

I had never heard of this issue in any reviews and given my experience I am surprised people rate these screens so highly.

Maybe I was hasty in returning it and there are ways to reduce the impact but not being able to turn it off was a problem for me.

Glad I didn't sell my monitor straight after purchase!

That's very strange.

I just pick the mode I want and let it do the rest. But I have turned off all the automatic adjustments wherever I could find them (like auto-power saving, auto-black levels, auto-contrast, etc.)

Note that if you've done all that, you might not realise that it's on a per-input basis - so if you change it for the built-in TV tuner, then it won't automatically have changed the inputs for your console or media player or Sky/Virgin box.

I have all mine set to Cinema & HDR (but with auto-adjustments off).

That's a shame, I don't have an Xbox etc, just PC gaming so I don't share this experience and as you mentioned not many people have. Did you use a 2.1 hdmi and make that input PC/Console? Never mine, you returned it but I still rate this screen.
