probably obviously daft to some of you but....
Got a synology DS 214 2 bay NAS a few years old now.
Used to use it as a Network Drive and the TV's/ FireTV boxes accessed the films and programmes stored on it all worked well

Those films/TV stuff are now on another couple of drives and the Synology is now being used as a sort of back up drive I have 2 x 4tb Drives in it and its basically going to be used as a back up along with another 2 bay Nas
I want the synology accessible from a PC but NOT from the TV's

In the past I have "hidden" drives by switching I think DLNA off and that means they can be seen by a PC but the TV's and FireTV units can't see them
I'm really struggling to find a setting on the synology thats similar
I just cannot fathom which setting does what I want any help will be muchly appreciated

I think you should be able to just turn off the Media Server on the Synology NAS.

I have somethign similar in that I use an older QNAP drive as a backup to my newer Synology NAS. I turned off the Media Server on the QNAP to stop my other devices 'finding' it , so I only get the newer Synology on the DLNA lists of the various devices.

In the Media Server, under the DMA Compatability section there is an option to "Restrict access to Media Server....." and a button that says "Device list". Tick that and click the button and you get a list of devices. On that list untick the "Enable" column for the things you don't want to have access

Looks like it will do what you want but I don't use Media Server so can't actually try it

Alternatively if you're not using it to stream any more, uninstall Media Server?

Alternatively, alternatively, if you have users set up for devices then you can change the permissions for the user that the TV logs on with and deny access to the folders

Control Panel -> Users -> select the user and click Edit -> Permissions -> tick No Access

I am just going to check later on if switching on one of the TV's causes the synology to spin up from sleep
If it doesn't thats even better
