Does anyone know of a Visio viewer that actually works, or even a programme that will open .vsdx files properly? The MS viewer is tied to IE 11 & doesn't open files on my Windows 10 PC, I've tried Libre Office & that opens files with large coloured squares all over & Lucidchart seems to be all online.

I'm reluctant to splash out £310 for a copy so I've resorted to trawling the shady software sites.

Is it a temporary need or a long term need?
If temporary - I am happy to convert a visio file to pdf for you if that helps? I have a licensed version of Visio - just PM me...

if long term need - then I think that there might be an ipad viewer if that helps?

That's kind of you to offer but it's a long term need. I'm struggling to understand how MS can price Visio at £14 a month or £580 one-off when the whole Office suite with email & 1TB of storage only costs me £12 a month.

I'm not sure. MS changed the file format for the 2013 version so nothing before then will open .vsdx files. I'll have to ask the client to re-save them in the short term.

does this help at all?

It does seem that they do a viewer - even though it might need jumping through hoops to use it!

Can you see any download links on that page? I've opened it up in four different browsers & none of them show a download link.

If it's the viewer I've found earlier it needs ActiveX which is only supported on IE 11, which is deprecated on Windows 10.

If you already have 365 you should be able to view them by........

1) Saving the file you want to view to your OneDrive
2) Log into 365 in a browser and open your OneDrive in the browser
3) Click on the file, the web based viewer should open it.

as above, there is a web browser option… or downloadable apps - eg for the ipad
