Moving Box default folder location

A client has set up a shared location on Box in the hope that we can use it as common storage location for a project. I downloaded the desktop client but was disappointed to find that you don't seem to be able to change the default folder location - it wants to create a folder in C:\Users\MrPointy\Box.

I don't want the folder on the C: drive as it's a fairly small SSD & there's going to be a lot of files stored; I want to move it to the large HDD D: drive.

Anyone done this sucessfuly? I found one suggestion of a registry hack but someone else says it doesn't actually move the folder. Note it's Box I'm using, not Box Sync which is a different product.
