Can a CPU board be repaired?
Discussion
I have a Gaggia Titanium coffee machine which has become increasingly erratic in its behaviour over the last few months. I spoke to a chap at Gaggia service this morning and described the issues. He told me the CPU board is failing and, as they don't make this part anymore, the unit is effectively scrap. He said they've had to advise a lot of people to the same effect this year as this model is now reaching an age where the CPU board is failing. My question is, could someone with the right knowledge identify which specific component on the CPU board is failing and replace it? While Gaggia may no longer supply replacement boards, it may be the that the specific component, or an alternative component that can directly replace it, can be bought somewhere.
I’ve used these guys to repair my boat autopilot circuit board in the past:

Definitely worth asking them.

Machine is 14 years old.
Typically, moments after asking on here and despite earlier unsuccessful Googling sessions, I find a company that has new CPU boards in stock (£230) or will repair existing ones (£60-100) which is by far the most sensible option given my utter absence of any kind of competence when it comes to repairing delicate electrical components!

The company that repair the CPU boards are called Mr Bean 2 Cup...

However, when I sent them a list of the faults on my machine they suggested that it might be too much work to carry out all the diagnosis and repair needed for my CPU board and weren't keen to take it on.
At the time they had a new CPU board in stock and I pondered buying it to fit myself, but after watching a YouTube video in which someone carries out a different repair on a Titanium, but exposes the CPU board in the process, I realised that I'd be completely out of my depth due to the amount of wiring that appears to be attached to it.
The other option was to have them fit a new CPU board, but this threw up another issue, basically that they're not keen to have a machine shipped them unless you agree to absolve them of all responsibility for said machine due to the risk of damage in transit. They'd rather you drop it off in person and pick it up again afterwards.
Dropping it off was a no go as I'm in Yorkshire and they're in London - return rail travel, an overnight stay to afford them time to carry out the repair, the cost of the part and then the labour amounting to more than the price of a new machine.
They agreed that I could ship them the machine if I accepted they they held no responsibility for damage in transit, but again, the cost of sufficiently insured shipping both ways, plus the part, plus labour, was only about £20 less than the price of a brand new Gaggia Brera, so I bought one of those instead and I'm very happy with it.
They appear to have two replacement CPU boards in stock at the moment in case you feel brave enough to swap it out yourself...

Alternately, if you're close enough to HA1 3QP to drop your machine off for them to fit a new CPU board, then that would be the ideal solution.
