I'm lucky enough to have a workshop. Large, metal and a fantastic insulator of 4G signals. This is useful in some ways (IE no one can get hold of me) but a pain in the nuts in others (When i'm supposedly "working" from home, or want spotify in the background).

Mobile signal on the estate is fine.

Poking an antennae out of the window is no problem. What am I looking for? Some sort of router that my phone can connect to that uses my existing data allowance with an external aerial, but haven't a clue what to google. Help!

Could you leave the phone outside and use bluetooth headphones/speaker?

As long as you have WiFi and WiFi calling on your phone it’s irrelevant.

But if he is inside the box its a problem. The box prevents him getting a suitably strong enough single
Isn't that the whole issue?

Remember that depending on provider you may not get SMS over WiFi calling. It’s rarely an issue as most people use WhatsApp now but it could be an issue when getting a 2 factor authentication for a website/purchase as they normally come by SMS.
