Looks like it's well received in China and expanding fast. Reports of non Huawei companies wanting to install it on their handsets instead of Google Android. I will be able to install it on my old P10 lite, so I might try it on that first. I'll also check to see if it will install on my old Huawei mediapad. Would you install it on your phone when it's released globally?

Isn't it just basically a reskinned fork of Android?

Yep its similar to what Amazon do with their Fire devices, take the base Android and install their own store etc on it. There are some privacy based OS out there that do the same.

I would install it because I really want the Chinese government to steal all my data. I have a Huawei phone but that's running Lineage OS rather than Magic.

Yeah, that's always my go-to metric. They have 1.3 billion scientists all working for the good of you and I so you can't go wrong. And then some of those scientists come over and cook us their delicious cuisine like salt and pepper squid snack boxes (don't forget the chips and gravy!)
