I have a W10 computer which someone needs to borrow.
However, it is 'personalised' and password protected etc for me and I'm not comfortable with anyone borrowing a personalised computer.

So I thought I would experiment.
Earlier I cloned a drive from an un-personalised W10 computer of the same model and similar spec (both computers have a W10 licence) then fitted the clone into the 'personalised' computer and it worked fine; not needing my password to log in and not having anything relating to me on it.

Both computers still worked fine even after I got them both to 'phone home' and search for any W10 updates.
The 'clone' won't be connected to internet once it goes on loan to the person who needs to borrow it from me, but it will connect to internet occasionally once they return it to me in several weeks time.
Later in the year I intend to try to install W11 even if it is supposedly not compatible (will use a work-around if required).

Are the computers likely to continue working fine long-term? Will a problem arise? Will Microsoft punish me?

Thanks!

If they just wanted to borrow an clean system you could have just installed W10 onto an empty HDD and give them that, no need to clone anything.

Or are you asking if it's okay to spread 2 W10 licences across 3 installs?

Why didn't you just create a second user account on your PC?

I have W10 ISO but didn't want to do it that way.

Two computers, both have W10 licences.
Drive of computer 1 has been cloned and now both computers 1 & 2 have the same files on their drive, neither are now personalised.
Clone also carries over certain files etc which might be required without having to reinstall those.

The one which had its (personalised) drive replaced had a several-year-old SSD which was well past its TBW rating anyway so is probably on borrowed time.
