We have our own Mailserver and we are getting emails we send out bounced because we are on a spam blacklist?
Does anyone have an address for a site we can use to check for security loopholes or relays etc.

Thanks in advance

Who is bouncing your e-mails? ORBS etc? Many of them have checking tools, but you'll have to shut down your open relay first!

This link should get you started

Slightly off topic and I guess not your specific issue (asn you're in Blackppol), but maybe relevant.

We used to get tons of bounce-backs from emails ..... and the cause of it was the fact that we had the word "sex" in the mail ....

Sex as in Middlesex

Once we removed the address, all was fine !

You could try relaying outbound mail through your ISP's server rather than going SMTP direct (if thats what you're doing?) A lot of servers are set up really paranoid nowadays about who they'l accept mail from.

Also, if you're worried aobut infected PC's becoming spam zombies you can block everything except your mailserver from getting out on port 25 (if your users will stand for it

aah, the dreaded Scunthorpe!

Some people dont deserve to be let near spam filters!

Typically the place bouncing the mails will tell you which list they used to verify you.

google around, many spam check sites out there for IP verificaiton.

www.dnsstuff.com/ might be useful - you can do a lookup on 150 spam lists all at once.

good luck!

This is a top site n gave me what I needed TA

Hi guys thanks for all the help, I think I've got to grips with the problem, the IP was reported in July 03 for being an open relay, as we only took on this address in March 05 it isn't something we've done, I'm going to get onto the ISP and get another one allocated, subject to my prior approval of course

Cheers Gordon
